US right lower quadrant
- Strengths
- appendicitis evaluation. Specificity high, but sensitivity relative low so very important to correlate with exam and clinical suspicion. May be appropriate in the young or very thin where anatomy is favorable and we would like to avoid radiation.
- Limitations
- CT with IV contrast > 95% sensitive of detection of appendicitis. Use oral contrast in the thin or young.
