- Strengths
- MRI >>CT for detection and characterization. Need to specify specific symptoms to aid radiologists in protocoling study and providing most relevant interpretation. IV gadolinium generally recommended.
- Limitations
- If patient has non-focal symptoms or for screening, consider MRI brain without contrast instead.
- Contraindications
- 1) Standard MR questionaire as to contraindicated implanted devices, surgery, etc.; 2) Gadolinium will be dose-adjusted dependent upon creatinine clearance. It will not be given with CrCl <30 due to risk of NSF.
