- Strengths
- MRI >> CT for head and neck CA imaging. If for neoplasm, will probably need gadolinium. Specify orbit, nasopharynx, sinuses, skull base or larynx (may alter MR protocol).
- Limitations
- If for suspected disc or cord abnormality, order MR C spine.
- Contraindications
- 1) Standard MR questionaire as to contraindicated implanted devices, surgery, etc.; 2) Gadolinium will be dose-adjusted dependent upon creatinine clearance. It will not be given with CrCl <30 due to risk of NSF.
