CT abdomen with IV and oral contrast

Strengths
May be useful for upper abominal hernia, mass or diaphramatic lesions. Also can be useful for specific followup of abdominal visceral lesions although organ specific multiphase studies likely more useful. Upper abd/lower chest post surgical patients?
Limitations
Does not include the pelvis. Most of the time pelvis should be included in the CT order as peritoneal contents are then fully assessed.
Contraindications
1) Allergy to contrast, but we will premedicate patient as necessary; 2) IV contrast will be dose-adjusted dependent upon creatinine clearance.
CPT Code
