- Strengths
- PET always perfomed and fused with non-contrast CT; If indication is melanoma, order whole body. Others generally skull base to mid thigh; Must specify "staging" or "restaging" in indication.

- Can be tricky to get authorized through insurance for certain indications or timing of followup studies. Memorialcare participates in NOPAR registry which allow scanning of most types of cancer.

- NPO 6 hours. (diabetic patients 4 hours), but can take meds; No caffeine or sugar; drink 24-32 ounces of water prior to appointment.
