- Strengths
- Xray for acute symptoms or trauma. Otherwise MRI is mainstay of MSK imaging. In general IV contrast needed only if concern for neoplasm or infection. Arthrogram available for labral evaluation, but usually not first line for initial evaluation.
- Limitations
- May need documentation of certain symptoms and chronicity of problem for authorization.
- Contraindications
- Standard MR questionaire as to contraindicated implanted devices, surgery, etc.
