- Strengths
- good for characterization of circle of Willis stenosis, acute occlusion, atherosclerotic stenoses or known aneurysm. Often ordered in combination with CTA carotids if for presurgical/intervention evaluation.
- Limitations
- If only for aneurysm screening, consider MRA (no contrast needed and good aneurysm detection).
- Contraindications
- 1) Allergy to contrast, but we will premedicate patient as necessary; 2) IV contrast will be dose-adjusted dependent upon creatinine clearance.
