- Strengths
- Pre-stent, angioplasty or surgical evaluation or in acutely ischemic patient. Includes 3D image reconstruction.
- Limitations
- MRA also very good for pre-procedural assessment and options exist for non-contrast study; If just screening for PVD, consider arterial US (very sensitive and can quanlify degree of overall compromise, but has less assessment of specific stenoses).
- Contraindications
- 1) Allergy to contrast, but we will premedicate patient as necessary; 2) IV contrast will be dose-adjusted dependent upon creatinine clearance.
