- Strengths
- Hematuria evaluation. Known ureteral or kidney stones or bladder mass.
- Limitations
- If only for screening for stones, use CT abdomen and pelvis without IV contrast. Ultrasound may find stones, but relatively insensitive. CT near 100% sensitive for stone detection (even when using IV contrast)
- Contraindications
- 1) Allergy to contrast, but we will premedicate patient as necessary; 2) IV contrast will be dose-adjusted dependent upon creatinine clearance.

- NPO 4 hours, but can take meds. Drink 32 ounces of water one hour prior to appointment.
