- Strengths
- known biliary disease, suspected choledocolithiasis. Order with gadolinium for more complete study of the pancreas.
- Limitations
- If for RUQ pain/biliary screening, consider ultrasound (lower cost) first. HIDA scan more specific for acute cholecystitis. CT generally better for non-biliary upper abdomen disease or screening.

- Standard MR questionaire as to contraindicated implanted devices, surgery, etc.
