- Strengths
- CTA very good. Less artifact than MRA. Can assess type and severity of plaque and provide accurate measurement of stenosis fro preprocedural planning. Includes 3D images.
- Limitations
- If only for screening for renal artery stenosis, consider ultrasound or captopril challenge nuclear renal scan.
- Contraindications
- 1) Allergy to contrast, but we will premedicate patient as necessary; 2) IV contrast will be dose-adjusted dependent upon creatinine clearance.
