- Strengths
- useful for preprocedural assessment of fibroids. Also can characterize adnexal masses or uterine anomalies. Utility for cyberknife therapy planning for prostate CA.
- Limitations
- Most other indications (such as screening for malignancy, focal symptoms, adnexal pathology, etc) consider ultrasound in woman/CT in man as first line.
- Contraindications
- IV contrast will not be given in renal insufficiency (Creatinine clearance <30) due to risk of NSF; CrCl between 30 and 60 on case by case basis. Requires discussion with radiologist.
